How EVERY STATE BLUE made an app to showcase 656 Democratic candidates

For too long, Democratic races at the state and federal level all over the country have gone unchallenged – or unsupported.

Every State Blue is changing that. With projects in three states (Missouri, Ohio, and Tennessee) and nationally (First In Line) Every State Blue is committed to creating grassroots communities of people like you who want Democrats to fight everywhere. Here’s how they created the Every State Blue Candidate app to showcase the candidates they’re supporting in a few hours with the free MakeItFast platform.

Collect the information about the candidates, district, campaign website, donation link, endorsements and other details in a spreadsheet. This information can be updated at any time to automatically refresh the app.

Create apps without coding. Choose your layout and upload your logo. Users can search by scrolling or By name, race, state or endorsement.

The app can be shared as a URL (https://makeitfast.org/EveryStateBlueCandidates) or a QR Code. No software installation nor registration is needed. Use it anonymously on phone or laptops. User can choose to get alerts instantly and also send messages back to the organizer.

Every State Blue, formerly known as It Starts Today, was founded after the 2016 election by Jonathan Zucker, former COO and CEO of ActBlue. Convinced that the power of the Democrats’ grassroots community coupled with small-dollar recurring donations could change fundraising forever, he got to work creating groundbreaking national and state-based programs.

In 2017, Michele Hornish co-founded Blue Missouri with Jonathan, launching ESB’s first state-based project. Together with ESB board member, accomplished author, and former Ohio Democratic Party Chair David Pepper, ESB launched Blue Ohio in 2022. Blue Tennessee followed in 2024.

Through its various projects, Every State Blue has raised and distributed over $2 million to Democratic nominees at the state and federal level since 2016.
