The promise was so high. Entering the NFL with a bang, winning OROY in 2023. Whispering sweet nothings into a young Caleb Williams ear. Then regression in each of the following seasons.
Don’t get me wrong. In his first three years he made the playoffs and won a playoff game, but now all the questions are around if he is holding this team back. Has he gotten that bad?

It’s easy to cast blame his way after 0 TD’s and 5 INT’s in the playoffs last year. That’s not getting you anywhere.
The offensive line has been one of the worst in the NFL. They added some guys in free agency (Braden Smith, Wyatt Teller) and used their 1st round draft pick on Keylan Rutledge (G - Georgia Tech). On top of that, they welcome David Montgomery as the new starting RB. Houston is becoming the place for RBs to die with recent attempts with Joe Mixon and Nick Chubb, but Monty is a good bit younger and hopefully can bring stability AND pass blocking to the equation.
Outside of the Playoffs the major issue for Houston was in the red-zone where they ranked 30th in TD rate. Hopefully a healthy receiving core, Montgomery, a new line, and better decisions from OC Nick Caley are enough.

Welp, they still have Nico Collins. Tank Dell is returning from a gruesome injury in 2024. All eyes on Jalyen Noel or Xavier Hutchinson to step up.
Who cares about offense? Let’s talk about beef! This might be the best defense in the NFL. Not only do they return all starters from last year, but they added some guys too. Reed Blankenship (S) will start and they added depth up front with Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall.
It’s tough to find a better pass rushing duo than Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter. Houston is leaning into the strategy that worked perfectly for Seattle last year. Why blitz when you can create pressure with four down linemen?
On top of that they have one of the best sets of corners with Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter.
The natural complement to a great defense is a strong running game and the Texans were damn near the bottom of damn near every rushing statistic last year.
They played the 2nd hardest schedule in 2025. After starting 0-3 they turned things around and won 9 straight to end the season. The 2026 schedule isn’t a cakewalk, but it’s significantly easier than last year’s.
It’s put up or shut up time for Stroud as he enters a contract year. If he can improve and the running game is competent… LOOK OUT!

Not a path to success, and the Colts follow it to a T.
Let’s go back in time to Week 10 of 2025. Indianapolis was the most surprising team in the NFL. They were the first team to go over their win total and were looking at the #1 seed in the AFC. Damn near the top of every offensive stat. Jonathan Taylor was the clear favorite to win OPOY. They went all in, trading for Sauce Gardner and giving up their first rounder in 2026 and 2027. It truly felt like the stars were aligned and they were ready to do something special.
Flash forward a month. You’ve lost every game (a losing streak that went the rest of the season). Danny tears his achilles. Sauce gets a calf injury. And a literal Grandpa in Philip Rivers is your starter.
Off a cliff fell the Colts and any promise of Playoffs glory.
But it’s a new dawn and a new day. Daniel Jones is back on the field with Shane Steichen leading the charge. Steichen has been a phenomenal hire getting the most out of Anthony Richardson, Gardner Minshew, Joe Flacco and Philip Rivers.
The offensive line is solid. Jonathan Taylor is a stud. The WR core could use some help outside of Alec Pierce and Tyler Warren but Josh Downs is sneaky and they just signed Keenan Allen.

On defense they are nothing special, but I’m personally a big fan of DC Lou Anarumo. Despite losing their green dot at LB in Zaire Franklin they had a good offseason. Bringing in Ardek Key and Michael Clemons at Edge and drafting CJ Allen (LB - Georgia).
So Danny Dimes is returning, but is he 100%? I know he’s practicing, but returning from an achilles takes time. Although they are significantly older, we saw issues with Rodgers and Cousins trying to come back too early. The QB position has plagued Indianapolis since Andrew Luck unexpectedly retired, and I still don’t think they have an answer.
The schedule is on the easier side, but it’s not a great start. They come in as underdogs in the first 5 games. In Week 7 and 8 they play teams coming off their Bye.
I’m not taking a side on them yet, but with the schedule and Danny’s return from injury I think this could be a team that starts slow, then rattles off some wins late. I’ll look to see if there is value heading into Week 9 for a live line on their win total or a Playoff spot.

From 4-13 to 13-4. Trevor Lawerence has once again been revitalized as the Jaguars are defending AFC South Champions!
Surely with that momentum the team went out and rallied around the troops for 2026?
Not even close.
They did basically nothing in free agency. Actually, nothing would be an upgrade.
The loss of RB Travis Etienne Jr. got a lot of talk, but losing Devin Lloyd at LB is significantly bigger. They didn’t have a 1st rounder and went with Nate Boerkicher (TE - Texas A+M) in the second round. The pick was a bit of a reach and all the NFL analysts are, rightfully so, hating on their draft.

They reached on every single pick. I get it, sometimes you think the market is cold on a guy you love. That’s fine. Take a swing. It’s concerning if you do it a couple of times, but reaching for every single draft pick says one of two things: either all 31 other teams are idiots or you are. I lean towards the latter.
Anyway… TLaw was awesome, wasn’t he? 4,000+ yards, 29 TD’s, 11 INT’s. And he ran for another 9 tuddys. The entire offensive line is returning and he’s getting all of his weapons back. BTJ is a prime breakout candidate after a down year. Parker Washington is meat and potatoes. The move to get Jacoby Myers last year perfectly fit what this offense was lacking. It’s all coming together. Maybe Bhayshul Tuten can be a serviceable running back, but maybe the Jags will air it out and he won’t really matter.
They drastically exceeded expectations last year, going 6-3 in one score games with one of the healthiest rosters in the NFL.
They’re good everywhere, and great nowhere.
Well, almost everywhere. I don’t get into kickers very much but Cam Little is the best in the league. He had the two longest field goals in NFL history last year.
The defense overcame a lack of talent with some huge plays and finished 2nd in the league in turnovers. That’s likely to take a big hit when you consider the loss of Devin Lloyd.
The schedule is 15th in the league. Very average. But they were dealt a tough hand. Week 1 they play the Browns. Easy enough. Then go on to play DEN, NE, CIN, PHI, and HOU. The tail end of that gauntlet is back to back games in London.

Ok, so the rest of the season must be pretty easy, right? Well, yes and no. In terms of opponents it shouldn’t be too bad, but due to construction on their stadium the Jaguars will play 7 of their final 10 games on the road.
Tough opponents to start, tough travel to end.
After a 13 win season they enter this season with an 8.5 win total. I’m not telling you they are going to regress, Las Vegas is!
I’ll be on the sidelines with the Jags this year, but I’ll definitely be looking to fade them down the stretch as road games against inferior opponents looks to be a valuable spot considering their travel. This is a team that needed OT to be the Cardinals and Raiders last year, so the opportunity will be there. It’s just about picking the right spots.

Was Brian Callahan the worst head coach in NFL history?
His 4-19 record says probably, and if Tennessee can look competent this year the case gets stronger.
It’s not all his fault. In 2024 the Titans finished with the worst record. In 2025 the Titans had the hardest schedule. It’s not supposed to work like that!
They played 10 teams that made the playoffs AND had to play both of their games against the Colts when they were red hot. Not the best landscape for Cam Ward to make an entrance. He played 9 games against top 10 defenses and Calvin Ridley broke his leg in Week 7.
The Titans trailed in every game last year.
So what’s next? Robert Salah may not be the answer, but it’s a step in the right direction. Brian Daboll will lead the offense. It’s basically every buddy cop movie with some jacked guy and his chubby friend.
Despite being NY rejects, I think these guys are a perfect fit together. Saleh was dealt a bad hand with Rodgers and never recovered. Daboll won Coach of the Year in 2022. If they can focus on their speciality and let the other guy do his job, this can be successful. At least in the short term.
On top of the coaching overhaul they had a great offseason. Bringing in a pair of Edge defenders - John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson. As well as corners - Cor’Dale Flott and Alontae Taylor.
They had two 1st rounders and got Carnell Tate (WR - Ohio State) and Keldric Faulk (DE - Auburn).
Saleh is getting his guys to create a strong pass rush. Cam Ward is getting a legit #1 WR threat. Hell, even Daboll got Wan’Dale Robinson from the Giants who should be able to hit the ground running.
Tony Pollard is an afterthought, but the guy has 5 straight 1,000 yard rushing seasons. I’m not going to tell you he’s amazing, but that’s solid.
Every year we see a team that gets a bump from having a new head coach and I think Tennessee could be that team. I know the roster is uninspiring. In fact, they don’t have a single personnel group that breaks the top 20!
It’s a gamble, but that’s what we’re here to do. The Titans will have a significantly easier schedule, a competent (debatable) coaching staff, and #1 draft pick at QB with a chip on his shoulder.
I’ll roll the dice.
