My favorite film for years was V for Vendetta. Remember, Remember the Fifth of November... a film about government tyranny and civil unrest. Now it is the dawn of an election day and the dawn of the fifth of November. Many fear that today's election will lead to the end of freedom for Americans. That fear leads many to forget their reason and common decency. They forget that there is a power greater than the human laws.
Remember that God is sovereign above all and we have obtained an inheritance in Jesus. With that inheritance, we are called to love: "you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength". The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself'. Simply put, we are called to make all of our choices out of love.
One thing that is quite poetic about V fot Vendetta is the tenacity of the human spirit once resolved. So this November, I ask for you to be resolved in love. In love, we are free from all the distractions that lead to fear and conflict. And If you find yourself losing reason, making choices out of fear, and fighting with yourself and others, then that's okay... just stop right where you are and return to love.
Remember Remember your God this November. For his reign is above the whole lot. I know of no reason why your actions this season should be with love forgot.
