What do you want, without apology or explanation?

I was asked this question and it stopped me. My first thought is I’m not sure. I am so used to pushing down what I want, especially in relationship with others. What do they want? I can answer that one easily. I make spaces liveable. Comfortable. Aesthetically easy. Not because it’s effort but because I need it. It’s one of my gifts.”

So back to the question, what do I want, without apology or explanation?

I want simplicity. I want to be loved and included. I want something juicy to dig into. I want to express myself creatively. I love conversations - deep, meaningful, connecting conversations. I don’t want superficial.

I want my tribe. Not necessarily my family, as it isn’t always easy with them. I want to be around people who understand. Who share the values of freedom, sovereignty, agency, purpose. Doing something that leaves a legacy. Not maybe every single time but more often than not. The one on one conversations where you are deeply listening and deeply heard. Understanding. Getting to do something that might not be understood by everyone, but by those who do get it - understood. Without words.

I want to dig into my work - my painting, my creations, my holding space and reverence for the women I work with. I want the depths - and to be immersed in things that matter - not sporting scores or the weather - which have their place in breaking ice but not in maintaining meaningful relationships.

I am looking for trust, for joy, for connection at the heart and mind level.

Your turn. Grab your journal. Ten uninterrupted minutes. You might surprise yourself.
