"If there is one word that makes creative people different from others, it is the word complexity."
Creativity researcher Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi added that "Instead of being an individual, they are a multitude."
He found other traits include:
* A great deal of physical energy alternating with a great need for quiet and rest.
* Emotional immaturity along with the deepest insights.
* Convergent and divergent thinking.
* Rrebellious and independent on one hand, and traditional and conservative on the other.
* Despair when they aren’t working, and bliss when they are.

Most of these topics are of strong personal interest to me, both as someone (with a Masters Degree/M.A. in psychology) who is fascinated with creativity, and with artists and creators, and from having lived a long life experiencing both positive and disruptive aspects of a high intensity, neurodivergent nervous system with vulnerabilities to anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and more.
So, I have invested years in exploring what others have to say about these aspects of being exceptional and creative, and I appreciate the insights of many artists, psychologists and others, on how we can thrive more with all this going on inside.
