"Funny, charming, inspiring and wise—this is a memorable memoir." — Stephen Colbert
What a delight to have this conversation with James Martin, SJ! Just the simple idea that when our anxious little monkey brains start in on what ifs and if onlys
what if something bad happens,
if only I had majored in nursing,
what if my kids make bad choices,
if only I had the kind of parents that could have met all my emotional needs,
what if something happens to my spouse,
if only so-an-so hadn’t done me harm,
what if I never feel loved
when our brains start in on this - we can gently assure ourselves that these perseverations are not from God, nor are they from a helpful place inside of us.
I’m watching out for this now. Thanks Father Martin!
Thanks everyone, for watching these little chats each week. I’m taking this wednesday off for medical reasons but will be back Aug 19th for a talk with Kaitlin Curtice!
