The Compliance Project was supposed to be more. I am sorry.
It was supposed to be what online media in Malaysia set up to be but evidently failed. Imagine Fahmi Reza’s artwork and impact but in words, long, short texts, in different types of content. TCP was supposed to be an extension of my frustrations, my hopes and what sick, twisted thoughts I had. It was supposed to be a way to connect with others. I’d be lying if I said I wanted to build a community. I actually didn’t.
I just wanted to write. 10 years back when I first wrote about kabels on linked no one cared but fast forward to today, more and more people are being brave, online. People are starting to realise that the gods, the prophets they idolise are not worth they praise. The elite that try so hard to hide their corruption and shame end up being hit by the spotlight because they thought Malaysians would stay stupid. We are not the same Malaysians their ancestors tried so hard to control.
Malaysians. My fellow Malaysians. I am sick of the racist mind games that benefit no one. If there is a crime and someone gets hurt, that person is a malaysian. If the perpetrator is also a malaysian then race should not be the determining factor that pushes the case to justice. All malaysians deserve justice. Besides, we have so much more to worry about. Our politicians are starting to slip, other nationalities seem to be taking over malaysia.
My fellow Malaysians. Malaysia is for all of us. I do not care for type this or type that. Even if there is evidence that a big group of a people have hurt another group then we rationalise them as idiots, as criminals, as evil people. I do not want Malaysians to be hurt and I think I have to say this, just because you are struggling in life, trying to hurt or take something away from others doesn’t mean your life will get better.
I don’t know who actually reads this. I was never a true liberal. Yes I care about other races, but maybe it’s because I never wanted to think of them as other races. I have been hurt and humiliated by people (never bothered about the race) but I have also been on the end of kindness. We Malaysians are better than all this race shit. If you are angry, hurt, sad, scared, I am too, but that doesn’t mean I get to wield this as a weapon towards others.
I am determined to be a content creator. My new brand will be social justice, drawing in my experience in law, compliance and integrity. My writing will focus on my own takes about different cases, issues and well, anything. No more “educating”. No more trying to rationalise things. I’m just going to take a bite at things and see what happens.
I never liked politicians. So this time, I will call them out. Their strategies (if you can call it that) and most importantly, the “why”.
I am not smarter than you. I am just crazier (I have actually been diagnosed with something) but I guess what I am trying to say here is that we all know there is a lot of shit in Malaysia, and these shit stains are walking around, going online, talking about helping the people when it’s always been about them. Always. I’ll highlight these shit stains so we can all avoid them better in life. Online and offline. Because while we do need to know what happened with Vivy Yusof, what here case is about, the most important thing we need to do is to make sure that as Malaysians, we understand that accountability exists and we do have a part to play in helping it exist.
