War is darkness.
War is suffering.
It is traumatizing.
But when you have the right friends, you might just survive as a human. Andries was such a friend. On some of the darkest days here after more murder from Russians, betrayal from ‘allies’ and just the brunt of life, his voice was always one of optimism and unity.
My heart is broken that after three years of phone calls, texts and plans to get together, this week was finally our week to hug and break bread and now he’s gone.
We have so many friends in common that I know they are in shock and pain.
He wants us to complete the mission to save Ukraine.
He wants us to work together.
I want to hear his voice again and again.
I love you bro and the world is harder without you.
