Christians Need to Stop Being So Weird About Art, Please

Let me start by saying this: I’m a big fan of Trent Horn, and a big fan of Christopher Nolan.

Trent is a popular Catholic YouTuber and an apologist for Catholic Answers. I, who am very much not an apologist, often look up his stuff for solid arguments on church teachings. He feels like one of the last people on Al Gore’s internet who speaks with integrity—he doesn’t neatly fit into one political box and isn’t, at all, afraid to call people out, yet always does so with upmost charity. I certainly don’t agree with everything that comes out of his mouth1, but that sentence also applies to my literal husband, so. You know. Not exactly the bar I use when it comes to relationships, parasocial or otherwise.

So I was surprised when his recent video about why he would never watch The Odyssey felt so short-sighted. His takes are usually interesting and nuanced, not simplistic and eye-rolly.
