After last week’s group discussion about movies that sucked so bad they were good, and movies that were just plain bad, it was only fair that I asked the group what movies they thought were perfection.

The movies they picked varied widely in decade and topic, but have to admit, most of them are considered beloved horror films.

  1. The Exorcist - This movie is renound for being the most terrifying thing people have watched (or read in the case of the book)

  2. The Omen

  3. Sinister

  4. War of the Worlds (2005) - This could very well be a great movie, but I couldn’t get past Dakota Fanning’s screaming.

  5. The Thing

  6. Paranormal Activity - Is this movie why watching ring camera footage is so pouplar these days?

  7. The Ring

  8. The Others

  9. Signs

  10. Sixth Sense - Had this one spoiled for me before I saw it.

  11. Jaws

  12. Aliens

  13. Predator

  14. Original Godzilla

  15. Them

  16. Texas Chainsaw (1974)

  17. Devils Rejects

  18. Silver Bullet - Is it common knowledge that this is based on the book, Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King?

  19. People Under the Stairs

  20. Amityville og & remake

  21. Evil Dead 1 and 2 etc etc

And, curious how a bunch of authors and readers favorites might compare to those of a dedicated videophile, I asked one collector of all things movie to give me his TOP 5 PERFECT horror films, and this is what he gave.

The ones in bold are the 3 that crossed over BOTH lists.

Surely that means something.

  1. Them

  2. John Carpenters The Thing

  3. Dracula (1992)

  4. Alien

  5. Silver Bullet

Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it with a horror fiend.
