April 26, 2026, 11 AM - 4PM
Join The Bronx is Reading in celebrating the 3rd annual Bronx Independent Bookstore Day, featuring Bronx bookstores: The Bronx is Reading, Bronx Bound Books, Lavish Booktique, Nefer BookCafé, and Loc’d and Lit. Set to take place Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the historic Andrew Freedman Home, the stores will come together to promote and celebrate the growth of independent bookstores in the borough, the power of literacy, book culture, and community. The day will feature offerings from each individual store ranging from curated books and merchandise for purchase, to swag giveaways, and select author appearances featuring Janelle Harper (Salon Saturday), Kat Cho (Gods & Comics), Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah (Chain Gang All Stars), Melissa Coss Aquino (Carmen and Grace), Luz Mack (Bachatica), Millie von Platen (Zohran Walks New York)! Ticket sales for the event are a fundraising effort for the Andrew Freedman Home which has served as a cultural institution in the Bronx for decades. Children 0-12 are FREE! Bring the family out to come meet authors and shop local this weekend, we can’t wait to see you there!
