CIF-SS Playoff Division Projections

We’re back! Again, give all my thanks to the folks at HS Ratings, formerly CalPreps, as for providing the raw materials, for my projections. They now charge a fee, I’m fine with it. Even glad to pay it, if you will. It’s like Damone says in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, “I provide a service, and that service costs money.” It’s the way of the world now, but kidding aside, I do appreciate the work that they do.

Working with an eight-team Division 1 at this point, 178 Auto Bids and 38 At-Large Teams. Keep in mind, these aren’t “predictions” but projections, based on HSRatings and other information that is available.

First installments tend to be a little chalk, as four-team pods have yet to play a league game, and any discussions with coaches are fairly general, while information from committee members has yet to start to trickling, but sometimes you just gotta fly by the seat of your pants, so here they are.

NOTE: Typically wouldn’t have an At-Large team as the top seed, but difference between Edison (30.0) and La Habra (26.9) was significant. Only other option would have been to place Chargers in Division 3, making either Inglewood or Chino Hills (30.2) top seed in Division 4.

Also, I know it’s strange that Cajon is a division lower than Beaumont, even though the Cowboys beat the Cougars on Friday. Blame it on the ratings.
