People fight for it, but even if we don’t have to fight can we achieve some sense of freedom in our life? And what does that mean or look like?

Bob Marley said it is “Better to die fighting for freedom then be a prisoner all the days of your life.”

Sartre, the French philosopher said “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

Prison can be outside, but most of our prisons are within.

There is no doubt if we are thoughful or reflective we will sense into our experiences of life and how we are shaped. And from there we find space for our freedom, if we can heal the parts that take up too much space.

So what could freedom look like, from an inner perspective?

To speak up, to be more creative, to be heard, to sing freely, to laugh louder, to forgive, to sleep more, to travel, to be without pain, to have less thoughts, to be free of social expectations, to be free of governments, to be free of control from another, to have more space; from your partner, children, in-laws, elderly parents.

Could freedom mean a walk in nature, a swim in the sea, to have more movement in your body, to have more money, to have less money, to live in a bigger house, to live in a smaller house.

Could it mean asking for help from God/a friend/a lover/a therapist? Or could it be simply sitting with your feet up, on your own, eating a piece of chocolate?

Sometimes the small things are the best way to sample something that gives us a flavour of something deeper.

Honouring what freedom means in your body-mind and going after it.

“Freedom lies in being bold.”
Robert Frost
