Both sen. Fevella and rep. Souza are moderate Republicans facing more rightwing challengers. Both their fates will be decided by random draw today. Fevella would have been safe in the general; in the case of Souza no Democrat even bothered to file, the winner of the draw takes the seat after November. Both Republicans represent western Oahu seats that moved heavily right for Trump over the past decade, leaving them about tied presidentially, but very favorable to Republicans downballot.
