To be clear I am not a car guy. Don’t get me wrong. I can certainly appreciate the ‘idea’ of being into cars but that’s about where my level of knowledge stops.
Oh sweet, I see you’ve got ‘er on the 4 wheels instead of 3? Nice. That’s nice. Really reduces the traction when you’re out on the skids, right?
But when regular client, British luggage brand, Bennett Winch reaches out and asks if you’d like to go behind the scenes with them at one of the world’s preeminent race courses in the world, you bone up.
Or at least just try and shoot as many sweet images as you can. That part was easy.
Having that type of access to an event like the WEC is always eye opening to me. I love trying to apply how I shoot to a different subject matter. I’m going to shoot the cars, sure, but I’m also going to shoot the pack of old Italian gent’s smoking like chimney’s next to the used tyres, oil and I’m guessing, petrol?
And my god, the NOISE. Considering the course is roughly 7km long I still couldn’t believe the sound coming from the engines, even when they seemed at a distance. Incredible.
These are some of my favourite images from the day spent with the BW team. A little different from the usual suits and boots but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless.
