The Thinker

I once thought
a thought.
Or at least
I think
I’d been thinking a thought
at the time
I thought
the thought.
But on second thought,
I think
I might not have
been thinking a thought at all—
You know,
a thoughtful thought,
the kind of thought
you should think
when you’re thinking.
Anyway, that’s what I
thought at the time.
I think.

El pensador

Una vez pensé
un pensamiento.

O al menos
creo
que pensaba un pensamiento
en aquel momento
en que pensé
el pensamiento.

Pero, pensándolo bien,
creo
que quizá no pensaba
ningún pensamiento en absoluto—

Ya sabes,
un pensamiento reflexivo,
el tipo de pensamiento
que deberías pensar
cuando piensas.

De todos modos,
eso es lo que
pensé en aquel momento.

Creo.

Une fois, j’ai pensé
une pensée.

Ou du moins
je crois
que j’avais été en train de penser une pensée
à ce moment-là
où j’ai pensé
la pensée.

Mais, à bien y penser,
je crois
que je n’étais peut-être pas
en train de penser du tout—

Tu sais,
une pensée réfléchie,
le genre de pensée
que tu devrais penser
quand tu penses.

Bref, c’est ce que
j’ai pensé à ce moment-là.

Je crois.
