By now I would hope that at least a few of you might be asking, where are the promised Parts 2 & 3 of the second episode of TW3/DT. No, you didn’t miss them. I haven’t written them.
When I came up with the idea of TW3/DT, I thought it could be a clever way to summarize the overwhelming amount of news generated by Trump and his crew.
Here’s how I introduced it:
As I think you’ll agree, keeping up with the fire hose of horrors emanating from Donald Trump, his administration and his acolytes is nearly impossible. There is simply too much to write about making it impossible for one person to write about it all and impossible for readers to digest. There’s got to be a better way to make Trump news more accessible, more digestible, while covering as much as possible.
I was right about the fact that the Trump horror show is nearly impossible to keep up with. I was right that there needs to be a more accessible, more digestible way of getting the information out. And, I was right in thinking that something like TW3/DT might be a better way to do it. The problem is that I didn’t think it through; I didn’t fully comprehend that researching, compiling, writing and publishing a week’s worth of Trumpworld “news” is not doable by one person—at least not this one person.
And there’s this, what I’ll call “Trump Fatigue Syndrome” (TFS). There’s simply too much Trump. So much that I fear most people just don’t want to be reminded of it. That doesn’t mean we just turn off. Or stop being informed. Or stop protesting and resisting. But it can mean that the non-stop reporting of his horrors is just too much, too much to write about and too much to absorb.
With all that in mind, I’ve decided to put Around the Block on hold for a while so I can determine how it fits in with the many other creative projects I have on my plate—more than any sane, almost 80-year old should have. I’m overflowing with ideas—short stories, novellas, shows, screen plays—ideas that never seem to reach fruition. I’ve reached the point where I need to seriously inventory all those semi-completed projects and begin prioritizing them determining which ones to focus on. And more importantly, to finish.
Having said that, Around the Block won’t be completely going away. It just won’t be as regular. If there’s something I want to say, something that I believe will interest you, that will move you, or even bring a smile to your face, I’ll post it in this space. So stay tuned.
One last thing. For those of you who, despite TFS, still want to be kept up to date on the malfeasance of Trump and his sycophants, you might want to subscribe to what I think is the best compact, daily reporting of the Trump, and other, news, Aaron Parnas’ “The Parnas Perspective” on Substack. As an example, Parnas’ latest post, NEWS: Trump Calls for Arrest of Obama and Clinton in Unhinged Posts, Measles Cases Surge, Netanyahu Cancer Diagnosis, and More, includes this summary of Trump’s deranged over-night posting:
So for now, “Good night and good luck.” Hope to see you “around the block.”
