In the world of Trump, should Around The Block's "That Was The Week That Was" really be, "That Was The Night That Was? "

In the last Around the Block, I introduced a new, semi-regular feature. I called it "That Was The Week That Was—Donald Trump Edition"

I rationalized the introduction of this new feature this way:

I think you’ll agree, keeping up with the fire hose of horrors emanating from Donald Trump, his administration and his acolytes is nearly impossible. There is simply too much to write about, making it impossible for one person to write about it all and impossible for readers to digest. There’s got to be a better way to make Trump news more accessible, more digestible, while covering as much as possible.

And so was born, TW3/DT.

But then I saw a a Facebook post from an “influencer” named Harry Sisson. Harry’s post suggested to me that with Trump, summarizing a week of Trumpian malevolence doesn’t come close to reporting the extent of Trump’s insanity. No, Sisson’s post pointed out that a week for us is a night for DJT.

Should Around the Block’s new feature be changed? Should I call it “That Was The Night That Was—Donald Trump Edition?”

I think not. I’m too old and too tired to document Trump’s mania on a nightly basis. That’s what Jon Stewart and his Daily Show crew is for. And that’s what people like the the 23-year old Harry Sisson is for.

But make no mistake, right after yours truly, the soon to be 80-year old editor-in-chief and only employee of Around the Block, posts this story, I will reach out to Harry to see if there’s anyway crazy me, old enough to be Harry’s grandpa, and Harry can work together.

I’ll close with this. I’m a media junky. I’ve been one since I was a pre-teen. At this point in my life I’m, frankly, confused about the concept of “influencers.” But whomever they are, and whatever their influence, thank goodness there are some, like Harry Sisson, on our side.
