A Different Kind of AI Course

I have a love-hate relationship with “courses” offered by people like me. The idea behind a course is inherently comforting. Somebody who knows what they are doing spent a lot of time putting this information into a structure that will be maximally engaging and useful. We humans like and need structure. Complete these seven lessons and you’ll double your AI productivity. Clear, structured, persuasive, and almost certainly not true.

I have something in common with almost everyone else out there selling you a course: I DON’T KNOW YOU. In my mind, this makes it somewhat presumptuous for me to assign a specific study plan.

But what if we thought about “courses” in a completely different way? We’ll keep the structure, because that is legitimately helpful. But, what if the content and goals of the course emerged quite naturally from the lives we are already living?
