Dew forms when the air near the ground cools significantly during the night. Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. So as the temperature drops, the air eventually reaches what's called the dew point—the temperature at which the air becomes saturated with water vapor. Any excess moisture then condenses on cool surfaces like grass, cars, or windows. That’s how those tiny water droplets form—what we call dew in the morning.
