This was a response to a woman who made a comment on Jackie A’s post.
I agreed and when on to say
White feminists fucking failed to support Black feminists in the 70’s, 80’s, and all.
White feminists from my beginnings as a feminist (1982 was when i learned much about feminism) felt that their issues were the ONLY issues.
They (white) felt Black, Latina, and Asian women had to help with white issues.
We whites ignored and made excuses. I’m sure those excuses began with “ now I’m not a racist. Some of my good friends are Black. But these people …”
It makes me sad that we actually had a chance to make a difference. To uplift other women.
But hey…who cares if we stifled their voices. Who cares if we pulled our skirts aside so as to not touch a Black woman’s skirt much less their hand.
Think of what a force we could have been.
But no.
