Tanya Davis · The Ponder

Hello from The Ponder! This edition includes upcoming performance information and links for tickets, but first here’s an excerpt from Tanya’s lecture for Poetry Month:

If language is a tool, then how do we use it? What happens if the tools are broken, or stolen, or lost? Can we build a better world with words, and can we make it beautiful? Join PEI Poet Laureate Tanya Davis at select libraries this poetry month as she pursues these questions through poetry and in conversation.

This is a free event in partnership with PEI Public Libraries. Click here for info

*Breadalbane Lecture will be rescheduled for May*

Slide Piece is a wonderfully weird comedy show featuring a rotating cast of celebrated performers - anyone from musicians, comedians, actors, improv performers, presenters & personalities...you name it) prepare and present a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation on any topic they choose to the amusement of the crowd...but there's a twist.

Before the show, host Shawn Hogan has secretly planted one surprise slide into each of the performer's presentation and it’s up to YOU, the audience, to guess which slide was the secret plant!

Mass for Shut-Outs is a shout out to anyone grappling with the complexity of faith, the inconsistency of awe, and the politics of organized religion. Loosely referencing the framework of a Catholic mass, it is a poetic take on Sunday service, exploring enduring questions through a joyful, critical, and comedic lens. It is for atheists seeking connection, agnostics asking questions, and believers kindly curious about other people’s gods.
