Other Cystic Detective Updates can be found in the Table of Discontents.
Cystic Detective and Moira make their way through the industrial district, psychic wires crossed, the telephone lines leading nowhere.
“If you’re worried that your psycho-sink abilities will sink you too deep, what are you doing here?” Moira questioned.
Cystic Detective struggled to form an answer. “I thought the streams brought me to you. I must admit amnesia of a sort.”
He spoke the truth. Every day the lines blurred between the horizontal and the vertical—time’s crooked arrow more like a gnarled, infernal tree. Moira furrowed her brow. How pitiful this Cystic Detective seemed, deluded and smelling not unlike a trash compactor.
“Let’s get you cleaned up,” she sighed. “Maybe, just maybe, you can help me.”
Cystic Detective smiled like a poor creature who had never learned how.
Cystic Detective Updates are usually special reports for paid subscribers, documenting research efforts, personal thoughts on recent news, or other, loose tidbits and recommendations. They’ve been on the house recently because Getting Spooked headquarters is moving and a lot of free time has been dedicated to the book project. While they are paywalled soon after publication, more often than not they will be paid exclusive. It is a small offering for those who support the longer, denser, free articles and the aforementioned book project. For access to past and future updates, (as well other archived articles and special podcast episodes,) you can take advantage of a running offer: 25% off for life with the iconic “Reads to the End” discount. My thanks to those who help Getting Spooked live to fight another day.
