I just learned a few things and wanted to share with you.

I currently have 478 Mighty Network members. This number represents women who have taken online classes or workshops with me, been in either the Ray of Light or Focus Circle communities, or traveled with me on creative + cultural retreats to France, Morocco, Mexico, etc. over the past six years.

I have 96 paid (and 1,653 free) subscribers to The Gold Star Diaries weekly newsletter here on substack. This means I earn approximately $6 of the $8 I charge for a monthly subscription, after all fees are taken from Stripe (the credit card processing company) and Substack’s processing fees, which turns out to be $576 a month.

I’ve been working on building my mailing list since my time spent with my creative business coach, Tiffany Han back in 2018. She encouraged me to just start a list. I’m so glad I did. Really grateful for the chance to pop into your inbox each week and share the work I’m doing, promoting + learning from. I do not take this for granted and thought I’d share my numbers with you in an effort to be more transparent about what it takes to be a working artist, as I try to make a living from my creative work.

My word of the year is FOCUS and I have been focusing…

on my business.
on 1:1 coaching.
on The Focus Circle community I co-founded with Corinne Bowen
on my art.
on my Moonflower Studio community with Andrea Scher, Julie Barton + Jenn Winter Lazarus, to name a few of the 12 women I share space with!
on my family.
on my home.
on my sobriety + recovery.
on my grief.
on my inner (spiritual) fitness.

This year, I completed my first 100 day project, which completely felt in alignment with my word of the year.

In other news, my friend and studio mate Andrea Scher and I are taking over the hallway in our building and hanging her beautiful wall hangings, as well as her vibrant mosaic-inspired paintings, alongside my 100 Day Project.
