Cayt: It was a lot of fun -- though difficult -- to get the look we wanted out of these pages. I'm pretty proud of them. Ari: The writing of this scene (as well as the masterful art by Caytlin) was partially inspired by the stories children who were in extremely traumatic experiences tell when they grow up; so much of it is impressions, noises, smells, certain faces, blurs with moments of clarity.
Cayt: I cannot tell you how hard Ari and I slaved over this sequence (and the ones to follow!) to make sure everything threaded together and hit the way we wanted to. Nothing is ever perfect, but we are VERY proud. Ari: Distant sound of dog laughing maniacally
Foxglove Comics has a new website! This has been an ongoing project for the last year, and I (Caytlin) personally put a ton of work and overtime into it, including lots of new little illustrations around the site. Go check it out!! Cayt: This sequence was a lot of fun for me. I referenced photos of dog fights to really bring the unsettling savagery into it. Piper's mention of "animals" is a…
Cayt: This was a really difficult sequence to get right, but I am very proud of how it came out. Trying to get across that Kira can be scary, showing the different kinds of emotional turmoil the two are dealing with, and trying to get across what Cur has been wrestling with internally while also starting to bring down the Consequences Hammer™ was a difficult balance to strike. There's more to…
Cayt: Thanks for all your patience while I chugged away at all these backgrounds! I'm really proud of how they came out, and really proud of these pages. Ari and I have been really working hard to get this and the next several sequences right. Hope you enjoy!! Ari: Sometimes I still dream about my childhood home and all the things - good and bad - that happened there. I think it's a beautiful…
The next scene is on its way soon! If you want to read new Tamberlane the second it's available, you should support us on Patreon ! Apricot Croissant patrons will get the pages literally minutes after I finish drawing them; Cuppa Tea patrons get that page a week later; and the public will receive free updates here on the site once each 3-5 page sequence is complete (usually once a month). (also,…
Cayt: Piper really does believe in Anthony... They're just up against some very crafty parents who are well aware of their shenanigans. Ari: The most tragic thing about this is we won't get to hear one of Jason's sea shanties. The next scene may take a little bit longer to come out as we are making sure everything is as good as it can be, and then it will require making some new…
Cayt: Piper abounds with important knowledge! About a lot of important things! ... Probably! Ari: She acts incredulous, but I suspect Piper enjoys the fact that as her brother gets older he's able to keep up with her verbal spars and antics!
Cayt: And so we return to our goofy goobers. We haven't seen them enough this chapter! Ari: This scene was such a blast to write as a way to bridge the tone of the early chapters and newer ones, especially seeing how Piper and Anthony's "discussions" have evolved as they've gotten older. Anthony is standing up for himself more! Good for him! Also, it's nice to get a chance to see how the other…
I am shifting the schedule so that public page releases are going to come out per-scene instead of per-page! This means you can expect a roughly monthly schedule, always on a Wednesday. For more information on the how's, why's and when's, please read this post !
I suspect that it must be very touching when your kid uses techniques you taught him to help you calm down. Very fulfilling! PS. Happy 450th page of Tamberlane! I can't believe it's come this far. :D
I can only imagine what it's like to try to mother a ""problem"" child like Cur, and how to help your young family understand the difficulties therein. No one is perfect, but everyone is trying their best. Sometimes love is the most important piece.
Have a nice, grounding moment between mother and child. I looked around for some good techniques for introducing kids to box breathing (breathe in 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, breathe out 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds), and this was what I found. I really like it!
Hello all! Tamberlane is going on a posting break until April 2nd! At the end of January, I had a fairly major (elective) surgery and am still recovering. I'd hoped to be back at work by now, but I need more time. Since the buffer of finished comics is pretty close to empty and I don't want to fret about that, I'm just putting a pause until I feel better. I'm PRETTY sure I'll be better by April,…
