There is a Sanskrit mantra that I absolutely love, Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, which translates to: “I bow to the Creative Wisdom. I bow to the Divine Teacher within.”
We take care of the outer body through our daily rituals like brushing our teeth, combing our hair, applying makeup, nourishing ourselves with food, but how often do we pause to honour our inner being, the divine wisdom within?
Honouring the self isn’t about ego. It’s about recognizing and aligning with the part of you that no one else can see, yet has always been there.
I have spent much of my life living from my head—thinking, analyzing, organizing, making decisions based on what I believed I should do, or because someone else had done it that way. But what about staying true to my own knowing? What about listening to what is happening within me? What about trusting my inner guidance?
I’ve realized (and then forgotten, and remembered again) that when I stop, take a breath, and listen deeply, my inner wisdom guides me. When anxiety and uncertainty begin to drown me in layers of doubt, turning inward settles me.
I find clarity. I find direction.
There are times I forget that I have wisdom built within me; those moments are filled with chaos, restlessness, and my head becomes cluttered. And then I return again to the higher consciousness within; I come home to myself. This is the place where peace resides, where my true being lives.
This is what we typically detach ourselves from, not intentionally, but because we are enamoured by the outside world and the instant gratification it brings. We wallow in our sadness and grief, our old beliefs and patterns, or are distracted by our addictions, cutting ourselves off from our true selves, not trusting or listening to the inner wisdom of the soul.

Does this mean we spend our lives sitting in meditation, disconnected from the world? Of course not. It simply means returning to ourselves, again and again.
The ancients knew that going within was the way back to the self.
Socrates encouraged us to examine our lives.
The ancient Egyptians understood that the awareness of the divine order of things led to deeper understanding.
Hermes Trismegistus taught us as above, so below and that the outer world reflects the inner.
Awakening isn’t found by escaping ourselves, but by going within and seeing ourselves clearly.
In Alchemy, the Philosopher’s Stone is about turning lead into gold. The gold, in this case, is the realizaion of our highest self. It’s not something you need to earn. You also don’t need to disappear into a monastery or spend months at a retreat to discover this. You can find it while sitting quietly in your own living room, because what you are searching for has never been somewhere else.
The journey home is not about becoming new or different, it’s reconnecting with what you always have been.
Tune into yourself:
Settle in, take a breath, loosen the shoulders. Go within, beyond the outside noise, the inner dialogue, beyond everything, calling forth your inner wisdom. Remember: Inner wisdom will be loving, kind and supportive. Anything less is not inner wisdom.
Take your time and listen deeply.
What it is you need?
What it is you want?
What is your soul trying to tell you?
Don’t rush.
Simply listen.
