In pharmacy, there is one question that sits underneath everything we do. Before a single medicine reaches a single person, someone, somewhere, has already asked it: does the benefit outweigh the risk? And then, the question turned around the other way. Does the risk outweigh the benefit? You learn to hold both at once, the way you might weigh two pieces of fruit in your hands to feel which one is heavier. It is not a glamorous way to think. It is, more or less, the whole job(ok besides some other legalities, but I wont bore you with that right now).
And then peptides arrive.
They arrive the way shiny things always do, promising a great deal and asking us to skip the part where we wait years and years to be sure. That is what makes them so exciting, and I understand the excitement completely. The promises are enormous. Some people talk about them helping with muscle recovery after a hard workout, or a general kind of glow up, skin that looks a little more rested, a body that bounces back a little faster. Others talk about something much bigger, about peptides one day helping with conditions we have struggled with for decades, endometriosis among them. When a single category of drug seems to reach from "recover better at the gym" all the way to "maybe help with something we have never solved," it is no wonder the internet cannot stop talking.
So what is the verdict? I want to be honest with you: I am not here to tell you yes or no. I am here to explain why there is a debate at all.
