Everything I've Bought For Fall, None Of Which I've Shown Anywhere Else

I bought a wool beret in August, which tells you something about my relationship with seasons.

It was 34 degrees in Monaco, the floors were still warm at midnight, and I was building a cart I had no intention of checking out. That part is a ritual. You build the cart, you let it sit, you go back in four days and take out the things that were a mood rather than a plan, well whatever is left of it. Even in this economy somehow things sell out faster than I can imagine. Which is why I decided to start showing YOU my picks before I show them anywhere else at all.

Here's everything I've bought for fall so far. Some are for the beginning of the season and will be perfect for fashion weeks, others are perfect transitional basics, so lets start.

Everything that can be said about a loafer has been said, and I keep buying them anyway, because a loafer is the shoe equivalent of not raising your voice. It doesn't do anything dramatic. It holds the line. Will they ever replace my other The Row favourites? I dont know but I am so excited to add a little something different.

These are dark brown with a burgundy cast in certain light, and there's a small tassel that I did not expect to like and now find myself defending at dinner. The price in my head justified by the costper-wear maths that every woman I know performs and none of us actually checks.

I take a EU 40 in these. Worth saying out loud, because I'm a 39.5 in about a third of my shoes and I've spent real money learning that lesson.

Oxblood intrecciato, the 1979 shape, which is the one with the fold-over top that sits like an envelope and has considerably more structure than that suggests. Love this type of elongated bag.

In a world that I move I reached a little bit of a handbag fatigue. Lots of them still make my heart dance, but I need a little something extra that will make my outfits pop and I think this is it. I had a real gap between "structured and formal" and "clutch that looks borrowed from a bridesmaid," and this closes it. Oxblood reads as a neutral once you've committed to brown, which I appear to have done entirely this season. Brown and burgundy, my two favourite colours for the coming season.

Two suede jackets in one order. I'd rather address that directly than have you find it in the receipts.
