Hello, hello! Labor Day weekend is amongst us and you know what that means…summer is over! The weather station in the DC area declared summer over yesterday as we’ve had over 10 days of below 80 degrees. Woohoo! It’s also the start of my travel season. I tend to avoid travel as much as possible in the summer because people. I’ve got an exciting rest of the year coming up and can’t wait to take you along!

  • The most exciting news this week was obviously our English teacher and gym teacher getting engaged! She broke the internet, we cried, screamed, and are so so happy for her. It’s not about a parasocial relationship. You want to know why this feels like a win for Swifties? If you’ve been like me and have loved her since Debut, you know that her songs were the soundtrack to our heartbreaks and frustrations. We watched her live what so many of us felt: getting pushed aside, feeling not enough, being told you’re too emotional, too much, too dramatic. I remember there was one interview she had where she was like they told me I was too much so I did the opposite and then they complained about that. Basically, she couldn’t do anything right. She kept pushing through, though. She didn’t let her light dim even though everyone wanted to extinguish her. Finally, after all these years, she found someone who embraced all of her, and wasn’t afraid to love her loudly and publicly. The right person won’t fear your light…they’ll celebrate it. And this is exactly why us lifelong Swifties felt this engagement so deeply.

  • After over 215 hours of playing Supermarket Simulator (lol I know), I’ve maxed out the game and am waiting for more updates before playing more. I started a new game called Ship, Inc. It’s a game where you unpack inventory and box up orders for customers. Have you seen the Target online order packers on TikTok? Lol, this is like that. I play a lot of service worker sims because I oddly have always wanted to be a cashier or packer in another life, LOL - I know it’s not glamorous at all, but I think it’s the mundane, repetitive acts that tickles my fancy. Probably has to do with my OCD, honestly.

  • If you’re not a Costco Executive Member yet, what are you waiting for? The hour to shop before everyone else alone is worth the upgrade.

  • I think I’m going to make this recipe this weekend. It’s one of my favorite ones from my blog and it’s perfect for the weather we are currently having.

  • It has been a slow reading month for me as I’m finding myself only reading a couple chapters of books before bed. The cooler weather makes me so sleepy and I just fall asleep so much faster, lol

That’s all for me this week! I hope you have a fun long weekend ahead and get all that pool time in before they close for the season! SO EXCITED for the ‘ber months!!!

-Julie
