In dev world lately it feels like we’re seeing a massive “complexity hangover”, with developers finally pushing back against the bloat of the last few years. There’s a clear trend of returning to the basics—leveraging what the browser already solves natively rather than layering on more JS frameworks.
In marketing we’re moving away from “ranking for keywords” and toward “being the source for AI answers,” which is a whole different ballgame that values authority and specific data over traditional backlinks. Still, while everyone is chasing the new AI-search “vibe,” many are forgetting that marketing is still the hardest part—you can optimize for an AI bot all day, but if your distribution strategy isn’t solid, you’re just whispering into a hurricane.
Finally, AI is a magic chatbot phase is over and the messy reality of Agentic Workflows is here. Between the debate over “Skills” vs. MCP and the critique of AI as a software architect, there’s a growing realization that while AI can churn out cheap code, it still struggles with the high-level design and nuanced UI that humans actually care about.
While we’re currently obsessed with building autonomous agents,we haven’t quite figured out how to trust them—the trend toward “deceptive models” and security leaks suggests we’re building powerful engines without having the steering wheels fully figured out yet.
Happy reading.
