My Visual Journal #80

The other day, I was looking for the cleaning kit for my camera and instead stumbled upon my homemade Vortoscope.

Vorto… what? you might ask, or maybe you remember this post and know what I am referring to. Anyway, I haven’t played with it since I last wrote about it, and thought I would give it another try. This time I decided to use it to photograph dahlias, which I just had picked at a “Pick your own flowers” field.

I started “My Visual Journal” as an addition to my regular newsletter to share the photos I make. The overall idea is “more photos, fewer words.” Over time, I realized it is also a great way to practice curating, selecting, and sequencing a set of photographs and turning them into a short narrative.

I send out a new edition every other week, alternating with my regular newsletter, which covers various topics but primarily focuses on art, photography, and the creative process.
