Susanne Helmert · My Morning Muse

Last weekend, I wanted to visit our botanical garden, but with temperatures in the high 90s, I decided not to go. This is why, instead, I am sharing some photos of the garden from last fall, which have not seen the daylight until today.

My favorite time to visit the garden is in the morning on weekdays. This is when there are only a few other visitors, and therefore it is much quieter. It is also when the gardeners are working and leave their tools out, which I can rarely resist photographing.

Three years ago, on July 6th, 2023, I published the first edition of My Visual Journal. I can’t believe it’s been three years already.

Thank you to everyone who has joined me on these walks, leaving hearts and kind comments along the way. I truly appreciate each and every one of you for tagging along.

Let’s see if I can make it to #100.

I started “My Visual Journal” as an addition to my regular newsletter to share the photos I take during my walks during the week. The overall idea is “more photos, fewer words.” Over time, I realized it is also a great way to practice curating, selecting, and sequencing a set of photographs and building a short narrative with them.

I send out a new edition every other week, alternating with my regular newsletter, which covers various topics but primarily focuses on art, photography, and the creative process.

Here is the link to past editions of My Visual Journal.

As always, thank you for being here! ❤️

X,

Susanne
