The day has arrived! I’m delighted to announce that sign-ups are available for the advanced review copy of The Planter’s Daughter. This is an e-book edition, but I will be preparing a small number of paperback ARCs also. I’ve been working on this book for years - I started the first draft in 2019 - and I can’t wait for you all to meet Rosa Keane and Kevin Xiao, two detectives who must navigate century-old feuds and local animosity to find out who killed Sadhbh Drummond - passionate and beautiful eco-activist, scion of the local Big House, loved and hated in equal measure by so many.
This novel does what few others do - attempts to frame the current reality of climate change with the dysfunctional relationship to land in the past. I’ve often been frustrated at the tendency to either pay lip service to climate change or reduce it to a tale that is relentlessly grim. As my editor Bernadette says, “it shows the realities without being preachy”
