Five years ago I launched the novel when George Floyd wasn’t even cold and the US was engulfed in protest. Now politicians are being murdered in their homes by a private army of goons and the US is engulfed in even greater protest, while internationally genocide and war are making life unbearable for so many.
Lucia, too, battles adversity and does her best to thrive in uncertain and turbulent times, including a global pandemic (it was weird writing about people wearing masks while wearing them myself!) Music is an essential part of that process for her. “Even when everything is at its worst, you must sing.”
