If you missed the first few days, I’m doing a 100-day sketchbook painting challenge and showing up here daily. This challenge has two parts: filling a sketchbook and writing here every day, and along the way I’m noticing the little habits that support the process.
You really never know how things can turn around from one day to the next.
Yesterday we went out to celebrate — an evening in honour of my beautiful dad — and before the night even ended, we got the news that my mother-in-law had fallen off her bike, broken her hip, nd there are a few extra concerns we’re navigating, so it’s been a lot to take in.
I had a hard time concentrating today, so making a sketch is as far as I got.
The building on the right was sketched last year during our Morocco trip, and considering I don’t do urban sketching, I was actually happy with that quick sketch — and that’s how far I got today.
So today’s inspiration was that same sketch-easiness: freehand, loose, no pressure.
And the kettle again — this time from the Moroccan store in town.
Today’s reminder: on days when your mind is elsewhere, keep the creativity small. A short session of a sketch counts.
