Thank you for being here. None of this work happens without the support of readers like you—people who refuse to look away, who share what matters, and who understand that independent journalism is more important now than ever.

If you're able to support this work, please consider a monthly subscription or a one-time donation via Venmo @Sugar_Rhi or you can Buy Me a Coffee ☕️ Every bit helps me keep digging, keep writing, and keep telling the stories they don't want told.

And if you can't donate right now? I see you too. Just being here, reading, learning, and sharing—that's support. That's community. And I'm grateful for each and every single one of you.

Now let's get into it.

*Note: When this article was first published, the section was numbered 224 in the draft text. It was renumbered to 219 after committee markup. The content and intent of the provision remain unchanged.*

I've been quiet. Burnout is real, and I've been making stupid mistakes recently because I'm running on empty. But I can't stay quiet about this.

Section 219 of HR 8800.

It's buried in a 1,300-page must-pass military budget bill. And if it goes through, the United States will never be the same.

Here's what it does—in plain English:

  • Fuses US and Israeli defense industries on AI, quantum computing, autonomous weapons, and cyber warfare

  • Creates a permanent "executive agent" whose job is to deepen this integration

  • Moves our relationship with Israel from "aid we can debate" to "co-production buried in the Pentagon budget"

They're not asking permission. They're sneaking it through while we're distracted, exhausted, and fighting just to get through the day.

Why you should be furious:

1. No accountability. Right now, the $3.8 billion in aid to Israel is a visible vote. This new system hides everything in opaque defense contracts.

2. Israel gets leverage over us. They're promising "American jobs" if we integrate. That's a bribe. And it means they get a say in our foreign policy—whether we like it or not.

3. Our hands get tied. We're already stuck in an endless Middle East war. This makes it permanent. We won't be able to pull back, even when we should.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers—including Democrat Ro Khanna and Republican Thomas Massie—are fighting to strip Section 219 out. They know what's at stake. The rest of Congress needs to hear from us.

And here's the other thing no one is shouting loud enough.

If the Strait of Hormuz stays closed through summer, August is when the real pain hits. Economists are warning of global recessions. Food prices. Gas. Fertilizer. Everything.

This isn't scaremongering. This is preparation.

Plant a garden. Check on your neighbors. Build community now—because the system is not coming to save us.

So what do we do?

I don't care how tired you are. I'm tired too. But here's what we can do—right now, today:

1. Make the calls.

Your representative's office logs every call. So do committee members' offices.

Start with your own rep: house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

Then call these key committee members—especially if you're in their district:

· Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) ☎️ 202-225-2040

· Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) ☎️ 202-225-4315

· Rep. Don Davis (D-NC) ☎️ 202-225-3101

· Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) ☎️ 202-225-2631

· Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) ☎️ 202-225-3465

Use this script for every call:

"I'm calling to oppose Section 219 of HR 8800. Do not fuse the US military with Israel's. Vote no on the markup."

30 seconds. Be polite. Be firm. Then hang up and call the next one.

2. Show up where it matters.

Organize protests at your local state capitol, federal building, or city hall. Lawmakers notice when people gather where they work.

If you're near an ICE detention facility, protests there send a message too—but know your rights first. Stay on public property. Know the risks. Protect the most vulnerable.

The point is: don't stay home. Be seen. Be loud. Be peaceful. The more of us speaking out, the better.

3. Plant something.

A tomato plant is resistance. A windowsill of microgreens is independence. Food prices are coming for all of us—be ready.

4. Talk to your neighbors.

Mutual aid starts with "hey, do you need anything?" Check on the elderly. Share what you have. Build the network now.

5. Share this.

Boost the signal. Not everyone knows this is happening. Now they will.

6. Get creative.

Sing. Chant. Use humor. Peaceful disruption works. The goal is to be impossible to ignore.

We don't have to agree on everything.

We just have to agree that this is wrong—and that we won't let it happen in our name.

Hell no.

We resist.

We do not comply.

Let's go.
