Sudbury looking to move on quickly from record-breaking East Anglian Premier League defeat to Mildenhall in key clash against Frinton-on-Sea

Sudbury captain Paddy Sadler has called on his side to quickly put Saturday's record-breaking defeat to Mildenhall behind them as they prepare for a crucial East Anglian Premier League clash with Frinton-on-Sea.
Mildenhall produced one of the most extraordinary batting displays in the competition's history at Friars Street, piling up 551-5 before bowling Sudbury out for 132 in exactly 25 overs to complete a record 419-run victory.
Matt Allen led the way with a remarkable 192 from 103 balls, while Peter Worthington made 107 and KC Cariappa smashed 112 from just 42 deliveries.
Mildenhall’s score was the biggest team total in the competition’s history in a 50-over contest, while their winning margin of 419 runs was the largest ever recorded.
The result left Sudbury with little time to dwell on a hugely difficult afternoon, as attention immediately turned to Saturday's meeting with Frinton (11am).
“I think it was one of those things,” said Sadler.
“Mildenhall had a really great start and were just able to keep it going. Sudbury can be a high-scoring ground, too.
“We just have to park this result, move on and make sure we are ready for this weekend.
“We need to focus and regard Saturday's result as a bit of a freak.
“We were missing a couple of players, but I don't think it had anything to do with it.
“They got off to a flyer, and it was just one of those days.”
Sudbury are currently second from bottom, with Frinton the only side below them, making Saturday's contest a hugely significant one in the battle to stay in the division.
Sadler's side also face four other bottom-half teams in their final five matches.
When asked if he was worried about relegation, Sadler said: “It's definitely a concern.
“Three or four weeks ago we were in good form, but we have dropped back.
“If we lose on Saturday, we’re right in a battle. It's definitely a season-defining game.
“Whether we win or lose, it will either leave us in a strong position or right in a relegation battle.”
Sudbury are expecting to be at full strength for the contest, although Sadler knows Frinton could be strengthened by their Essex-contracted players.
“We should be at full strength,” he added. “We know they have got good players.
“They have Essex-contracted players, and they are strong when they have them – we think they will on Saturday.”
May’s reverse fixture between the two teams ended in a draw when Sudbury declared on a score of 336-6, only to then be unable to bowl out Frinton, who finished their 62 overs with 252-8.
