Your Heart Is a Radio Tower. Here's What It's Been Broadcasting

Eric Thompson · Stream of Consciousness

You’ve probably gotten good at managing what people see.

You show up steady in the meeting even when your stomach is in knots. You keep your voice even with your kids even when you’re depleted. You scroll past the news, take a breath, tell yourself you’re “staying centered,” and then wonder, quietly, why the room still feels heavy even when nobody said anything wrong.

You’ve done the composure work. The tone-of-voice work. The saying-the-right-thing work. And most of the time, it helps.

But managing your expression isn’t the same thing as managing your signal. Because your heart isn’t just an organ pumping blood on a schedule. It’s closer to a transmitter that sends out a constant broadcast whether you’re paying attention to it or not. And the people around you are picking it up whether or not you say a single word.

Researchers who study heart-rate variability have found that your heart generates an electromagnetic signal with a variable rhythm: not a flat, steady beat, but something closer to an orchestra, encoding your physical and emotional state in real time. That signal doesn’t just stay inside your body. Studies on heart-to-heart influence show one person’s heart rhythm can measurably affect another’s, even through close proximity without touching at all.

You’ve been managing your words while your field has been broadcasting something else entirely. Your biofield doesn’t lie the way your sentences can. The tension you’ve been quietly absorbing from the news, from a hard conversation, from a year that’s asked more of you than most, is going out as a broadcast. Into your kids. Into your team. Into every cell of your own body, which is also on the receiving end of your own signal, all day, every day.

You were taught to manage your reactions so you wouldn’t burden the world with them. But the world doesn’t need your composure. It needs your coherence. And those are simply not the same thing. One is a surface-level facade, the other an energetic transmission of your inner reality that resonantly influences everyone within its field.

If joy really does feel like every cell in your body singing together, and emotional misery shows up as physical discomfort, then your inner state is not a private matter. It is, and always has been, a public statement. But instead of being noticed by the conscious minds of those with whom you interact, it’s absorbed and interpreted intuitively, where it resonantly influences how they respond to you.

So there are really only two ways to go from here. You can keep doing what most people do, managing the outside, hoping the inside eventually calms down on its own, treating your emotional weather as something that happens to you. Or you can start treating your own coherence as something you actively generate, not by pretending to feel calm, but by actually shifting the signal at the source, on purpose, in real time.

Because the truth underneath all of it is this: You are a transmitter. And right now, in the middle of everything heavy going on in the world, learning to broadcast coherence instead of just absorbing chaos might be the single greatest spiritual opportunity available to you.

This is exactly the terrain From Frustration to Flow works in.

Paulo, one of our students, described reaching a state he called “a mix of awakening and euphoria” that extended for hours after working with the practices, and said what stayed with him afterward was simply an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude for his life. Debhi wove the process through her chakras one morning and described feeling such a sense of expansion and alignment that she lost all track of time, calling it more effective than anything she’d tried on her own before.

There’s a specific practice taught in the very first module of the course for actively shifting your own signal any time you’re triggered by anything at all, not managing your reaction from the outside, but working with the emotional charge directly, at its source, in the moment it shows up. We won’t unpack the full process here; it’s one of the foundational tools of Week One, and it lands best taught in context. But if you’ve ever sensed that your calm exterior wasn’t quite matching what was happening underneath it, that’s precisely the gap this work closes.

In the meantime, I’m curious: when you think about what your own “signal” has been broadcasting this week, what comes up? Drop it in the comments.
