The second session of Rebuilding Kingdom Consciousness shifted the conversation from identity to dominion.
Having established in the previous session that man was created with jurisdiction in both the spiritual and earthly realms, Mr. Olufisayo Okunsanya turned to a practical question:
How does a believer exercise dominion?
We often associate dominion with power, authority, influence, or position. Yet Scripture paints a more nuanced picture. Dominion is not merely about occupying space; it is about understanding how God has ordered His creation and learning to steward it faithfully.
One idea from the session has stayed with me.
The earth and the world are not the same thing.
At first, the distinction seems subtle. We often use the words interchangeably. But the teaching suggested they describe two different realities.
The earth consists of resources.
The world consists of systems.
That distinction changes how we think about work, business, leadership, and influence.
Many of us spend years developing our gifts, yet give little thought to the systems that allow those gifts to create lasting impact. We become excellent at what we do but never ask how what we have been given might continue to serve others beyond our direct involvement.
Perhaps this is one reason God works through systems.
Creation itself is ordered this way. Seedtime and harvest. Day and night. God’s work is remarkably consistent. Miracles certainly happen, but they are not His ordinary pattern of governing the earth. More often than not, He works through the systems He has established.
If we are to exercise dominion, we must learn to understand those systems.
The Teaching Residency conversation also challenged the way we think about people and resources.
Things are meant to be used.
People are meant to be loved and served.
It sounds obvious, yet our systems often reverse the order. We use people to acquire things rather than using things to serve people.
