I’ve been thinking a lot about how the smallest things can completely shift how something feels. Not a full outfit overhaul, not a home redo, just one thing that makes everything else make more sense.
Things I’ve been doing lately that make me feel put together in the busiest era of my life. Think of this, if you will, as a small but mighty upgrade.
— Adding a statement necklace to the most boring outfit possible
White tee, jeans, flip flops. Truly as basic as it gets. But the second you add a slightly bold, slightly oversized necklace… it becomes an outfit. It’s that one piece that does all the work so you don’t have to.
This might be my favorite trick right now.
— A “nice” place for very unglamorous things
Headphones, chargers, the random things that usually live at the bottom of your bag. I found a vintage pouch (thank you Etsy!) that I now keep my headphones in and it feels absurdly chic for something so small.
It’s unnecessary… but also completely necessary.
— Custom (or just better) notebooks
There is something about a notebook you actually want to open. I’ve been leaning into ones that feel a bit more personal—slightly elevated, maybe monogrammed, maybe just a better paper weight. It makes even writing a to-do list feel more considered.
I’ve been really on a handwriting kick—everything I need is in my notebook. It’s truly my lifeline right now, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s monogrammed, leather, and chic.
— Swapping out the tiniest home details
I recently replaced my salt and pepper shakers with these small silver dog ones and it has brought me an unreasonable amount of joy. It’s such a tiny thing, but it completely changed the feel of the table.
Proof that you don’t need to redo everything—just edit.
— A laptop case that isn’t sad
This one feels obvious, but I ignored it for so long. I have a simple rattan laptop case from Etsy and I swear it elevates every coffee shop moment. It’s the difference between “working” and working.
Also makes me feel like I have my life together, which is half the goal.
— The perfect button down is in fact life changing
A no-brainer rule I will preach until the end of time: a perfect oversized button down (half tucked, sleeves rolled). Something about it always feels effortless but still considered. I’ve been loving this collarless one from AYR—it’s the perfect spin on a classic. I’ve worn it with a pencil skirt, over a swimsuit, tucked into jeans… truly a “can do it all” piece.
— A chic lighter (next to your candle… trust)
I was gifted the best one on a Jimmy Choo trip and it is so good just sitting next to my candle. One of those things you don’t think about, but it changes the whole vibe.
Also now I light my favorite Diptyque and Flamingo Estate candles way more, which feels like a win.
— A great leather belt
Ideally with a slightly oversized or statement buckle. I am fully in my statement belt buckle era right now. It instantly makes the most basic outfit (jeans, tee, simple dress, flip flops) feel styled.
— Athletic mini shorts with heels
Feels counterintuitive, but it’s very sporty summer and somehow… very chic. The contrast of casual athletic shorts with a strappy kitten heel is chef’s kiss. Pair with a crewneck sweater or a simple tee to complete the look.
— Letting one thing carry the whole look / space / moment
I think this is the throughline. Not doing more—just choosing one thing that feels intentional. A necklace, a pouch, a pair of shoes, a lamp, a detail. Everything else can stay simple.
It’s less about adding and more about editing. And once you start noticing it, you can’t really unsee it. The little things are always the things.
Which is kind of the whole point.
