SLU has full roster but monitoring process that has potential 5th-year players in limbo

The decision to fill the SLU basketball roster with 15 scholarship players was made by the end of April, which was around the time that talk was increasing about athletes possibly getting a fifth year of eligibility.

As we now know, that possibility for those who began college in the fall of 2022 has involved a series of decisions by the NCAA and courts. Athletes around the country are in limbo as classes start along with fall sports.

The most recent decision came Friday when the Tenth Circuit court of appeals issued a stay on a previous decision to give last academic year’s seniors another year of eligibility. What happens next is anyone’s guess.
