Patients at the Arlington Free Clinic are fearful of getting medical care, in light of enhanced ICE activity in Falls Church, Virginia. The clinic today changed in-person visits to televisits. So, in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic, ICE is now a cause of practicing remote medicine.
The tense standoff between a U.S. citizen and ICE agents two days ago, which can be seen in a video which I have referenced below, likely added to the fear our patients have of being detained or arrested.
ICE and the federal government in general should be ashamed of themselves. It’s bad enough that the patients need to go to a free clinic. Now the chilling effect of having ICE around to harass people includes an inability to see your doctor.
