Happy Tuesday!
Dave and I just did the TV version on inhaling the series Rooster. Steve Carell is ostensibly the star, but it’s really a fantastic ensemble comedy with heart. He’s a successful author of action-adventure novels — I kept thinking of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series. His daughter is an art history professor at a New England college, and her husband, a Brit who teaches Russian history, has an affair with a post-grad student. Hilarious, right? Obviously, that’s not the funny part. The humor comes from Carell’s character swooping into the college to try to help his daughter. It’s a fish-out-of-water caper, a family story, and a fun peek inside academia. We loved it, and also kept asking ourselves, ‘Why aren’t more people talking about this show?’
Which got me thinking about what else we might be missing! What are the TV shows, movies, books, theater, music, YouTube channels, or podcasts we should have on our radar?
After I chose the photo above and embedded it in the post, I realized it looks a little ominous — like you’re in danger if you don’t share something great. Then I thought that was a funny idea and decided to keep the photo. To be clear: You are not in any form of peril,
