Coming to you from toasty Chicago where it’s currently 98° and sunny. An afternoon light lager on a patio anyone? Anyway, we’ve been on the road quite a bit recently, kicking off some really exciting new projects that we can’t wait to share and shooting a bunch with our friends Crowns & Hops. Speaking of Crowns, we’re stoked to share a super timely limited edition label we did with them. Oh, and we’re back giving you another peek into our eclectic internal Slack. Hopefully you’re stayin’ cool, wherever you are! 🍻

Like many of you, we’ve been watching a whole lot of The World Cup (sometimes while working… shh!) since it kicked off a few weeks ago. With that in mind, it only seemed fitting to share some recent limited edition work for our friends Crowns & Hops.

With Crowns being about as LA as you can get and The World Cup being played down the street at SoFi, this was a huge opportunity for them to show up in a really cool way.

We worked with local Los Angeles artist @kikikittydoll who did the amazing illustration work and we created a suite of various assets for Crowns to show off while The World Cup goes on for the next month or so.

A few times every year we make sure to get together as a full team IRL. On-site meetings, lots of shared meals, a bit of reflection, and a lot of looking towards the future. We also shot new team photos (can’t wait to share those!) and had our 10 year anniversary party to round out the week. Thank you so much to everyone who made it out! We had the best time catching up with so many of you and sharing beers & bites. Shout out to Pilot Project for hosting and Jenna from Vichcraft for the custom embroidery.

The KFC Rebrand, Sierra Nevada’s Beer Soda Lineup, a Chicago Cubs campaign, and 13 Ways Designers Screw Up Client Presentations.

We are looking for creatives who want a desk at the best workspace in Chicago (yes, better than any co-working space you’ve toured). Stout’s studio is a 3,500 sq. foot loft space on the top floor of the ICNC building (@makecitychicago) in West Town. It has two in-unit bathrooms, a half kitchen, photo studio, great WiFi, a conference room, call room, storage, and is walking distance to public transit (Damen Green Line stop, #50 Damen bus, #65 Grand bus). We’ve been here for about six years and built everything out ourselves. It’s an inspiring and creative spot to work — plus great views of the city.

Details:

• Up to five desks will be available in the studio starting September 1

• Rent negotiable based on number of desks

• Rent includes all utilities, office cleaning, snacks, and some free beer

Every month we like to share something that stood out to us. That could be a new restaurant, maybe a beer we had, tv shows, new music, movies, books, art, design, podcasts, games, etc — you name it!

I finished all 850+ pages of Lonesome Dove and boy, what a journey! Just an epic, epic Western I couldn’t put down and has stuck with me since. I also remember seeing it as the most mentioned Summer Novel Reading poll over on Feed Me. Lonesome Dove… having a moment?? — Nick

I have long needed a pair of slip on, water proof clogs (to keep me from borrowing my husband’s crocs every time I need to, “run outside really quick”) and finally got a pair of Seavees via Memorial Day sale season. They’re fulfilling my every desire. Super comfortable. Cute enough to wear for real life. And capable of handling garden mud, rain, and general outdoor tomfoolery. — Meredith

I recently picked up some design books from Masala Noir! They have some great publications of packaging curations. I snagged their books on beer coasters and cigarettes. I’m now eyeing their books related to music design 👀 — Max

It’s been a minute since I’ve gotten into a new show, but I recently binged Widow’s Bay on Apple TV. I typically don’t like horror-comedies, but somehow they managed to nail it — super spooky at times, loaded with tiny details and Easter eggs, and only occasionally peppered with a some well-crafted jokes. Overall a really fun watch. — Jackie
