Stockholm Weekly: Week 31

Stockholm Pride truly takes over the city this week, with six days of celebrations, community events, performances and parties.

There are also plenty of other fun events alongside the official festival. This week, you’ll find everything from drag shows and ballroom culture to rooftop cinemas, stand-up comedy and outdoor yoga.

Whether you’re celebrating Stockholm Pride or simply looking for something fun to do, this is one of the busiest weeks of the Stockholm summer.

The biggest Pride celebration in the Nordics returns with six days of parades, talks, concerts, exhibitions and parties across Stockholm. The highlight is Saturday’s Pride Parade, but there’s something happening every day throughout the week, with some of my top picks included below.

Tuesday, July 28 | 19:00–03:00

Kick off Pride Week at Secret Garden with an evening of LGBTQ+ anthems, colourful cocktails, DJs and dancing in the heart of Gamla Stan. Expect a welcoming crowd and plenty of rainbow-filled photo opportunities.

Looking for something a little different? Nomad Swedish Food & Bar hosts an English-language comedy night featuring both experienced comedians and newcomers from around the world.

Wednesday, July 29 – Friday, July 31

An alternative, community-led Pride festival organised by queers for queers. Filled with workshops, performances, talks, live music, affordable vegan food and a programme centred around activism, community and inclusion.

All events are free to attend.

Urban Deli at Nytorget kicks off Pride celebrations with drag performances from Vienna Audior and Kendi, music from DJ Amor and tarot readings throughout the evening.

Secret Garden swaps rainbow for tropical with a Hawaiian-inspired Pride party. Expect karaoke, island-inspired cocktails, dancing and colourful outfits encouraged throughout the night.

Debaser Klubben welcomes Stockholm’s ballroom community for one of Pride Week’s most anticipated events. Inspired by Wicked, this year’s Kiki Ball celebrates self-expression, fashion and performance, with an animal print dress code adding to the spectacle.

Wednesday, July 29 – Saturday, August 1

Kollektivet Livet hosts four days of Pride programming, including burlesque, drag bingo, emo karaoke, lip-sync battles and a sapphic club night with two dance floors. Each evening has its own theme, making it worth coming back more than once.

Bring your own drink and spend the evening painting solo or with friends in one of Stockholm’s popular creative studios at Södermalm or Vasatan.

Sessions end with a mini exhibition and everyone gets to take their artwork home.
