Hello, Bear Blogging community! \\ My name is Desi (they/them) and I'm a 28-year-old living in the US. I started this blog after reading a post about the ...
Tuesday night, I was watching a YouTube video where someone mentioned that they've went for a run every day for the past ten years 1 . When the YouTuber said that, I thought, I wish I could be that kind of person. Then I thought, How do I become that kind of person? , looked up "how to start running for beginners", and began my research. I'm incredibly sedentary for a couple of reasons. First, I…
On August 5th, 2024, Fields of Mistria entered early access on Steam. I am a SUCKER for farming sims - give me the same setup where I move onto a dilapidated farm overrun with weeds, need to grow crops and catch fish and/or bugs, have a barn or coop with livestock, and can also befriend some cutie townsfolk (and maybe be more than friends) and I will eat it up every time. My farming sim journey is…
I'm writing this as a response to Robert Birming's AuguStory, the story of your blog post. I think blogging has interested me since I first discovered old Blogger (previously Blogspot), Livejournal, or Wordpress blogs around 2006. I have a preference for text-based content rather than video- or audio-based, and being able to read through pages and pages of someone's words is incredibly fun to me.…
I accidentally forgot to post for a few weeks, and when I thought about posting again, I didn't know what to say. So every day for the past week or so, I've thought about what I could post about that would be more cohesive/centered around a topic, rather than a random assortment of thoughts. I couldn't think of One Thing, and now I am here, ready to talk about some things I did during the month of…
I saw Becky (Online Goddess) posting about her creation of the #BearCats tag , as a Bear alternative to things like #Caturday. I thought this was a great idea and immediately wanted to participate - I am always eager to talk about my cats and show them off! (Aren't all cat owners, though? We love our kitties!) Going from youngest to oldest means that Moogle is first up! He turned a year old in…
I had my first jury summons arrive in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I got them once when I was in college but I was able to defer as I was a full-time student. So now, at my big age of 28, I didn't have any way to get out of it. Last Friday morning, I promptly made my way to the location on my summons. Here are some observations I made and thoughts I had throughout the day. There's over sixty…
I wear my favorite perfumes and body sprays at home. I used to try to save them for when I went out on a nice date or attended an upscale Event, then I realized I was hardly getting any use out of them. What good is it doing me to have bought pretty-smelling sprays if I just put them on a shelf and never wear them? So now, I wear them while I work from home. I spray perfume or body spray on myself…
Last fall, I hit my breaking point and went low-contact with my mom. I used to feel as if I were walking on eggshells during each conversation with her, and I would get daily Apple Watch notifications about my heart beating fast due to anxiety, even when I wasn't actively interacting with her. Since going low-contact, I rarely get those high heart rate notifications. I don't tremble and feel sick…
I bought this yarn in October 2019 and finally got around to using it. Kind of crazy to think about all the things that have happened since then and the apartments and households this yarn has lived in alongside me. Some more details on the numbers behind the making of this sock: there are 64 stitches on each round the cuff is made of 20 rows of 2x2 ribbing the leg is 45 rows the foot is 45 rows…
I don't think about my gender. I have identified as nonbinary and agender for about ten years at this point, and while I use they/them pronouns and ask that my partner and my friends use those pronouns for me, I don't really care if they happen to occasionally slip up or if a stranger misgenders me. I feel really detached from gender. I don't think of myself as a man or a woman - I think of myself…
