Please come in to Elora’s new bedroom…

The first thing that will catch your eye is the expansive view. Her piano is situated to take full advantage. When her windows are open you can enjoy a free concert, even 10 floors below.

The walls are painted, the wallpaper is up and all the last details are finished. Now we can both enjoy! We are especially loving this warm peach color, which sets off her white wardrobes and that kitty painting beautifully.

Elora chose the wallpaper herself. It is a pale straw yellow with white daisies. The wallpaper covers the wall behind her loft bed. I thought we would place the paper to the ceiling, but she insisted that we leave the stripe of turmeric orange wall, made by the previous owner, visible.

I love her color-confidence as she develops her own style! These days she is usually drawn to soft pastels, so this was a bold step for her, and that’s fun.

Under the loft bed, Elora has a cozy nest for her desk and reading chair. I am so grateful for this sturdy, handmade loft bed, which we bought a few years ago secondhand in The Netherlands. The pale wood color blends with every decor, while creating so much space for her.

Most mornings this summer I have found her nestled this chair, reading her latest library pick. She is growing up fast into a clever and caring young lady. It is so nice to make a home together, as two girls who enjoy flowers, pretty color and cozy spaces.
