The Merry Month of May - Oil on Board

I’ve been thinking for a while about how best to share some of the threads that sit behind the essays here: the things noticed while walking, what is happening in the garden, pages from a sketchbook or my archive, or the paintings and books that happen to cross my path - all things that don’t quite fit in my usual posts. There are also things that arise in the making of a post that do not quite fit the final edit and it would be lovely to have a place where they might still be shared.

These posts will take a relaxed approach and together these snippets will be gathered into a loose commonplace book. Not “commonplace” in the modern sense, but a small personal collection of things worth keeping.

These won’t be essays, but the idea will evolve as it goes along, and that will be part of the fun. They will appear in your inbox around the first Thursday of the month.

If there’s anything in particular you would especially enjoy seeing here - whether it’s sketchbooks, research discoveries, work in progress - do drop me a line in the comments to let me know and I will do my best to oblige.
