This week’s first question comes from Evil Speakers subscriber Mitch, who chimes in with a spicy inquiry: I posted a comment in response to Big Thief coming out at the Ryman the other night and playing only new songs from their upcoming album saying I would not enjoy that (picture attached). Then, Gillian Welch (very nicely) called me out.
My question is this: would you enjoy this concert experience? I still stand by my comment that I would be pissed. Spending $100ish dollars to see a band I love and them not playing anything I know for three hours is honestly hell for me. Heck, it’s the reason I generally skip openers. I don’t want to pay money to hear songs I don’t know in a concert setting. I think if they announced ahead of time, then that is totally cool because then I would be like ok not for me. Curious on your take.
