A Poem For Poet

I know a little girl whose actual name is Poet. When I saw her with her mother at the Meadows Farmers Market while I was offering custom typewriter poetry, I had to write a poem for her. I don’t have a lot of embellishment about this one, or the philosophical ramifications of the poets duty to the craft or anything, but I do recommend you watch the video for her reactions to my reading. She’s just as cute as a button.

A POEM FOR POET

This is a poem for Poet

may she dance among the words

may they lift her spirits

so she can fly among the birds

for poetry, it has a way

of making spirits light

and when the right words are used

it will make your spirit take flight

because words are very important

and more powerful than they seem

words can help you write the world

and articulate your dream

so let poetry continue

help you to find your way

may inspiration continue

to guide you every day

when you have a vision

words help you to show it

and you can create reality

when you realize you’re a Poet
